A Leg Up Ballet Academy
Class Information
We invite students to experience their first class with us for FREE. This opportunity allows them to discover if our classes align with their needs and goals, paving the way for their future success!
Class placement level is determined by instructors based on a combination of factors including technical proficiency, physical strength and flexibility, and overall readiness for more advanced training. Teachers carefully observe students during class to assess their skills and potential, considering factors such as alignment, turnout, coordination, musicality, and ability to grasp and execute choreography. Class placement is essential in ballet as it ensures that students are challenged appropriately while also receiving the necessary support and guidance to progress in their dance training journey. Our teachers strive to place students in classes where they can further develop their technique, artistry, and passion for ballet, fostering an environment where they can learn and thrive to their fullest potential.

Simply provide your Venmo username during registration, and we'll add you to our recurring monthly payment requests. It's an easy way to stay on top of tuition without having to remember when payments are due. Payment reminders will be sent on the 20th of each month. A $15.00 late fee will be assessed for all late payments received after the 1st of the month. Please note: This is NOT automatic payment. No funds will be withdrawn from your account automatically. Each month, you'll receive a Venmo payment request, and you'll simply review and approve the payment when you're ready.
Please note that a $15.00 late fee will be assessed for all payments received after the 1st of the month.
Registration:
When you register, there is a $40.00 registration fee per student ($50 per family) due along with one month's payment for each class you are registering for.
Costume Fees:
Fee is $75 per dancer and siblings are an additional $40 per dancer (each show).
Tuition Structure:
Our tuition structure is based on an annual fee for all classes, which we then divide into 9 equal monthly payments. It's important to understand that these payments are not calculated on a per-class basis for a specific month. Instead, they represent the annual fee spread into manageable monthly installments. Please be aware that full monthly tuition is due for each month.

Costume Maintenance Fee
A Leg Up Ballet Academy has the privilege of performing twice during our season. We perform The Nutcracker in December and a Spring Ballet (TBA) in late May/early June. A Leg up Ballet Academy does not require our families to purchase costumes for performances. We have a costume maintenance fee prior to The Nutcracker and the Spring Performances. The fee is crucial to maintain the quality costumes that are an integral part of the performances that A Leg Up Ballet Academy has become known for.
What does the money for the fee go towards? Don’t we already have costumes?
Yes. We do have costumes. However, the studio is growing and so for each performance, new costumes need to be purchased. These costumes can cost as much as $100 or more each! Each child might wear 2+ costumes per performance. You can see how this adds up. Also, the money goes to make alterations and repairs to current costumes, as costumes need to be adapted and changed to meet the needs of each performance and the current performers. Additionally, extras need to be purchased such as headpieces, gloves, props, and all sorts of little "extras" that make everything look polished.
Why can’t I just buy my child’s costume and keep it like some of the other studios do?
A Leg Up is a different type of studio than other dance studios. We perform actual ballets, as opposed to doing recitals where there are a number of individual performances where you have a separate costume for each performance. Therefore, we are able to use our costumes over again just like professional ballet companies. It really works out best for you. At 100per costume, with 2 per performance, and 2 ballets a year, you'd end up spending $400 in costumes!
